Hyundai unveils ‘i20 Active’ at Frankfurt Motor Show

Korean automakers will unveil new cars at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, which starts with the press day on September 15 through September 27 in Germany.

Hyundai Motor Group will unveil "i20 Active," a crossover utility vehicle model of its European strategic model i20, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle is launched as a part of Hyundai’s strategy to expand the market share in the B segment (supermini). The ride height of the i20 Active has been raised by 20 mm compared to the i20 five-door hatchback model, which gives sporty look.

The new model will go on sale in Europe early next year. At the end of this year, Hyundai will offer a new 3-cylinder 1.0-litere GDI gasoline engine in addition to the current engine lineup of 4-cylinder 1.4-litre and 1.25-litre MPI petrol engines and 1.4-litre and 1.1-litre MPI diesel engines. Hyundai also plans to reveal the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe, which has already been unveiled in Korea this year, at the motor show in Germany.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Hyundai will unveil the definition and vision of its high-performance vehicle brand "N," which is to be introduced to the market in 2017. Hyundai Motor Vice Chairman Chung Eui-sun, who is known to be leading the sub-brand development, will participate in the motor show. Along with "N," Hyundai Motor Group will display show cars (for exhibition) of the "Next generation i20 Rally car" and the "N Vision Gran Turismo," which will show the domestic automaker’s commitment for high-performance vehicle. "Vision G," a coupe concept car, will be in display at the motor show.
