"Ssireum (Korean wrestling) Champion" Lee Man-ki, professor of Inje University, has applied alone in a public recruitment of the chair of the ruling Saenuri Party’s organizing committee for Gimhae B district in South Gyeongsang Province. This is the constituency where the party’s supreme council member Kim Tae-ho declared not to run in next year’s general elections.

The party’s special committee on reinforcing organization said on Wednesday that the result of public recruitment to nominate the chair of the Gimhae B organizing committee, which was conducted from Sunday to Tuesday, said Lee was the only person to have applied for the post. Lee reportedly consulted with Kim in advance in the course of application.

Lee had sought the nomination for candidacy of the Grand National (Saenuri’s predecessor) Party’s Masan A district (currently Masan Happo district in Changwon) at the 16th general elections, but failed in the bid. Meanwhile, Kim Kyung-soo, chair of the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy`s cooperation committee, is preparing to run at Gimhae B district.
