The Korea Tourism Organization announced on Friday eight domestic tourist destinations dubbed "Tours to cool falls" that are worth visiting in August. They are Mureung Gyegok valley (Donghae in Gangwon Province), Mujuchae Falls (Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province), Hongryong Falls (Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province), Naeyeon-san 12 Falls (Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province), Surak Falls (Gurye, South Jeolla Province), Jikso Falls (Buan, North Jeolla Province), Geumsan 12 Falls (Geumsan, South Chungcheong Province), and Yongchu Falls and Suok Falls (Goisan, North Chungcheong Province).

If you wish to see a magnificent view of cold falling waters, you are advised to visit Mureung Gyegok valley in Donghae, Gangwon; Hongryong Falls in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang; Naeyeon-san 12 Falls in Pohang, North Gyeongsang; and Geumsan 12 Falls in Geumsan, South Chungcheong. Mureung Gyegok offers picturesque scenery living up to its name, which is named after Mureung Dowon (paradise) where Taoist hermits played according to myth, while Hongryong Falls is famous for serene Buddhist hermitage and rainbow drawn up by the falls. Naeyeon-san 12 Falls offers the fun of touring 12 different falls with unique characters, while Jukpodongcheon Falls, the flagship falls at Geumsan 12 Falls, provides a spectacular view of columns of water falling from a height of 20 meters.

If you wish to swim and play in the water, you are advised to visit Surak Falls in Gurye, South Jeolla; and Suok Falls and Yongchu Falls in Goisan, North Chungcheong. Surak Falls is widely known as a site where you can get water falling on your body from a height of 15 meters. Suok Falls is famous for outdoor swimming pools using water sourced from a valley and is very popular among children. If you wish to take a walk through a forest path, you should visit Mujuchae Falls in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi; and Jikso Falls in Buan, North Jeolla. Mujuchae Falls, some 30 km from the town of Gapyeong, is inconvenient to visit due to lack of public transportation, but it is a great place to cool off summer heat because it is less crowded. Jikso Falls include a path through a forest in Byeonsan National Park, which allows you to take a rest, while slowly walking along the forest path.
