Sejong Center for Performing Arts to open summer music concert

For the summer vacation season, the Sejong Center for Performing Arts is holding a music concert for teenagers from August 6 to 19. The concert will feature a variety of performances including chorus, Korean classical music, opera, etc.

The Seoul Metropolitan Chorus will open the event with “Exciting Concert” on August 6, followed by Seoul Youth Orchestra’s “Summer Classic” the ensuing two days. More than 100 performers will play Benjamin Britten’s ”The Young Person`s Guide to the Orchestra” and also “Zigeunerweisen” in marimba.

“Opera Matinee” will perform Mozart’s comic opera piece “Così Fan Tutte (All Women Are Like That, All Women Do the Same)” on August 11. Without special stage settings, the performance will be a combination of a performance or music, opera actors’ acting and commentation.

On August 12 and 13, the Seoul Boys and Girls Chorus team will sing with a teacher chorus team selected through auditions. The music to be performed includes movie “Sound of Music” original sound track music such as “Do Re Mi Song,” Korean traditional song “I`ll live in a blue mountain” and New Zealand folk song “Pokarekare Ana.”

Seoul City Hall Youth Classical Group will perform “Dreaming Sejong” on August 13, which is a musical play of a story of King Sejong.

On August 14, classical musical fairytale “Mozart and Mozzarella’s Magic Flute” will be performed. This is an adaptation of “Magic Flute,” with a story of Mozart and his soul mate Mozzarella thriving adventures with hero Magic Flute. Call 02-399-1000 for further information.
