Korean infielder Kang Jung-ho is set to start his debut season in the Major League Baseball.

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Monday its 25-member roster including Kang for the opening day of the 2015 season. If compared with the practice in Korea, Kang makes the first string roster for the opening game. Of course, Kang’s rival competing for the same defense position in the team including Jordy Mercer, and Neil Walker have also made the roster.

In 18 exhibition games he played in, Kang had a batting average of 0.200, two homers and five RBIs, failing to living up to fans in Korea. However, his team decided to include Kang in the Major League roster, by giving consideration to his potential that he showed by hitting home runs at his Major League preseason games.
