The crashed Germanwings plane had a wide range of passengers including German high school students and opera singers. They were on their way back from a language program or an opera in Spain, according to the AFP.

Sixteen high school students who died in the crash were 10th graders at Joseph-Koenig secondary in Haltern am See in northwestern Germany. They were returning home from a week-long language training at a school near Barcelona. Two teachers were also dead.

Two German opera singers, who had been performing at an opera in Barcelona, were also on the plane. Oleg Bryjak, a bass-baritone, and Contralto Maria Radner were on their way back home after performing in Richard Wagner`s Siegfried at Barcelona`s Gran Teatre del Liceu. Radner was on the flight with her husband and baby. Germanwings said that two babies were on the plane.

Two employees of Barcelona`s trade fair organization who had been on their way to a food technology fair in Cologne were also on board. The Associated Press said that among 150 victims were 67 German, 45 Spanish, two Australian, one Dutch, one Turkish, and one Danish. The British Foreign Office said its nationals appear to have been on the flight. The Spanish government declared a three-day mourning period.
