Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun, Boryung Pharmaceutical Group CEO Kim Eun-seon and Hotel Shilla CEO Lee Boo-jin have been named on the list of the most powerful business women in Asia for 2015, which is annually named and released by the Forbes Asia, an Asian version of the American business weekly magazine Forbes.

Forbes Asia praised that Hyun raised nearly 3 billion U.S. dollars to restructure her debt-ridden Hyundai Group to focus on shipping and machinery. The Asian business magazine also said that Hyun is back at the forefront of North Korea-South Korea relations, working to resume tourist visits frozen for seven years to the Mt. Keumgang area in the North.

Kim assumed the role of chairman in 2009, and Boryung has since become one of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in the country with the 2014 sales of more than 300 million dollars, according to the Forbes Asia. Last year Boryung struck it big in China with over 45 million dollars in sales while actively advancing into overseas markets, said the magazine.

Forbes Asia commented on Lee, saying, “Restructuring across and within companies in Samsung Group over the past year, as well as the IPOs of de facto holding company Cheil Industries and IT-services unit Samsung SDS, has made Lee poised for a greater role at the vast Samsung empire, along with her older brother, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, and younger sister, Cheil Industries President Lee Seo-hyun.”

Out of 50 business women named this year, Chinese business women accounted for the biggest portion of nine, followed by India and Thailand with six, respectively, Hong Kong with five, and Singapore with four.
