Ichiro Suzuki, 42, is set to continue his journey to achieve his career 3,000-hit mark in the Major League.

According to the Major League’s official website, Ichiro signed a one-year contract worth 2 million U.S. dollars with the Miami Marlins. Since his Major League debut in 2001, Ichiro had more than 200 annual hits for 10 consecutive years, ranking first in the number of hits in seven years. But he seems to have a bumpy road ahead in his journey to realizing the dream.

Ichiro is 156 hits shy of 3,000 career hits, but he garnered just 102 hits last year. It is also uncertain whether he will be given an adequate number of times at bat at Miami that has competitive outfielders including Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, and Marcell Ozuna

As of now, 28 players have achieved career 3,000 hits as individuals in the Major League. Though Ichiro achieved a combined total of 4,122 hits in the Japanese pro league and the Major League, he needs 3,000 hits to enter the MLB Hall of Fame after his retirement.
