The opinion that conglomerate owners who are behind bars need to be paroled to help expand corporate investment is gathering momentum within the ruling camp.
Following suit of ruling Saenuri Party Chairman Kim Moo-sung, its Floor Leader Lee Wan-koo also started "trumpeting the campaign for entrepreneurial parole, saying that If the government requests discussions about conditional release of businesspeople, we can consult with the main opposition party.
The role of entrepreneurs is important in order for Korea to revive the economy that remains in the doldrums, party spokesman Park Dae-chul made an official comment for the first time. We urge the government to deeply agonize over the issue given the two criteria of economy and law.
Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Min Kyung-wook said on the day, Entrepreneurial parole is the justice ministers own right. His comment apparently suggests that the Justice Ministry and the ruling party seek to release entrepreneurs by examining the trend of public opinions, rather than President Park Geun-hye taking the lead in light of the sensitivity of the issue among the public.
For this reason, observers predict that if the ruling party proactively takes the lead to create positive opinions, the Justice Ministry will likely seek conditional release of businesspeople in response. The Saenuri Party will reportedly discuss this issue at a meeting of its supreme council members on Monday.
