Hyundai Motor has declared an era of eco-friendly vehicles by launching a new version of the Sonata Hybrid.

While announcing the new Sonata Hybrid on Tuesday, Hyundai Motor`s Vice President Kwak Jin said, “Hyundai will make efforts to popularize hybrid vehicles next year by banking on the New Sonata Hybrid.”

As a second-generation model of its predecessor, the new Sonata Hybrid model is produced based on the LF Sonata sedan, which debuted in March this year. The gas mileage of the new model amounts to 18.2 km per liter, when it is installed with 16-inch wheels, improving by 8.3 percent from the previous version. When installed with 17-inch wheels, the car can travel 17.7 km per liter, a 5.3 percent improvement from the predecessor.

Depending on the trim levels, the new Hyundai Hybrid is priced at a range of 28.7 million won (26,500 U.S. dollars) to 32 million won (29,500 dollars), which is slightly lower than its first-generation model.

Kwak said, “Not to mention fuel efficiency, we have differentiated our new Sonata Hybrid from its competitors by enhancing driving efficiency as well.”
