"It is wrong to exclude (them) because they were criticized in the past."

Korean national football team coach Uli Stielike asked to refrain from criticizing Jung Sung-ryong (Suwon Samsung Bluewings ) and Park Chu-young (Al Shabab).

At a press conference at the Korea Football Association Headquarter Office in central Seoul Wednesday, Stielike spoke about his opinion on off-season training in Jeju Island before the Asian Cup due in January in Australia. This training will be joined by 28 players including K League players including Rim Chang-woo (Daejeon Citizen), Kim Seung-dae (Pohang Steelers) and Kim Min-woo (Sagan Tosu), and those playing in Japan and elsewhere. Stielike will test the players` potentials through this training session.

Jung Sung-ryong joins the training. On disputes on Jung among football fans after the Brazil World Cup, Stielike said, "Since World Cup, Jung Sung-ryong and Park Chu-young were on the center of criticism. It is wrong to exclude them because they were criticized and performed poorly at the World Cup. If they show good performance in their respective teams, criticism on their past should be stopped." He said, "Jung proved his capability at K League and so I called him." On Park, he said, "He played full time in his team for two recent games but I`m worried because he didn`t score." Yet he said he will look at the players with a broad mindset adding "Doors are open to everyone."

On the warm-up match with Middle East teams ahead of the Asian Cup, he said, "Assessing our team after game with Iran, I will give 7-7.5 out of 10."

Stielike will be on off-season training in Seogwipo City from December 15 to 21. The final entry for the Asian Cup will be announced on the 22nd.
