Uli Stielike, the coach of South Korea`s national soccer team, on Thursday warned against the risks of "S.O.S." during a lecture hosted by the Korea Football Association at the team`s training center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. Discussing the risks that can be caused by misjudgments, the German coach cited the S.O.S., which stands for "system, organization and scheme."

Mentioning "system," Stielike said that coaches should not hang on to particular tactics too much, noting that they should not stick to having three strikers when their team is not rich in striker resources. As to "organization," he said coaches should not give too much emphasis to organizational power. Citing the national team`s evaluation match against Paraguay in October, he said he started the game with a 4-2-3-1 formation but shifted to 4-3-3 and 4-2-4 formations frequently. He noted that players should make judgments about formations to a certain extent as long as the forward strikers and rear defenders maintain the right space. For "scheme," the coach warned against carrying out trainings too strictly sticking to plans.

"Having no plan at all is a problem but doing everything just as planned would put the team into monotony," he said. Coaches receiving Asian Football Confederation (AFC) "P" license courses, including Pohang Steelers FC coach Hwang Sun-hong and FC Seoul coach Choi Yong-soo, attended the lecture.

Meanwhile, coach Stielike will embark on a one-week training program in Jeju with 28 players in the domestic league, including 12 new faces. He will announce the final Asian Cup lineup on December 22, before leaving for Australia on December 27 to participate in the Asian championship, which opens on January 9, 2015.
