Body of the 294th victim was retrieved on Friday, in 94 days after the Sewol ferry accident. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters

announced that the civilian-government-military joint rescue team

found a body, which is presumed to be a female, while searching in the third floor and central areas of the Sewol ferry at around 6:20 a.m. It has been 24 days since the body of Yoon Min-ji (16, Danwon Highschool student) was recovered on June 24. The current death toll shows that still 10 victims are missing.

Identification of the retrieved body was not yet carried out. The disaster countermeasures headquarters and families of missing passengers said the body is presumed to be that of Lee Myo-hee (56, female), a cook who worked at Sewol ferry’s cafeteria. The body was wearing a vinyl apron, which is commonly used at cafeteria kitchens, and arm warmers. Also the earrings were worn and a car key was in the pocket. The response center requested the National Forensic Service to conduct a DNA test for the exact identification.
