Brazil complains about the World Cup theme song
MAY 27, 2014 05:53
Brazil has incomplete stadiums, anti-World Cup protests and even complaints about the world cup theme song.

In Brazil, the official World Cup song is striking a wrong chord with many people. The Associated Press said on Monday that hordes of fans in Brazil have been criticizing FIFA뭩 밯e Are One (Ole Ola). Many expressed their frustrations on Twitter, asking for the return of 밯akaWaka, the widely loved song for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Fans are complaining about why Cuban-American rapper Pitbull and Bronx-born Puerto Rican singer Jennifer Lopez were chosen for the song. The theme song was also featured by Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte. They also complain that the song is mostly in English and Spanish, leaving only a few seconds at the end for Leitte to sing in Portuguese.

The Brazilian government is concerned about a protest against the tournament during the event. It said it would mobilize military forces if a strike or a protest takes place during the period. Particularly, it is concerned about the possibility of a strike by Brazilian police, which could pose a significant challenge in safety management. Recently, police went on a strike in 10 Brazilian states. In addition, the roof and electric wire work are not complete at the Arena de Sao Paulo stadium that will host the opening match between Brazil and Croatia on June 12, and many other stadiums are still under construction.
