Doctors save passenger on plane
MARCH 10, 2014 08:11
At 7:30 p.m. last Friday, an airplane of the Korea Air (KE123) having departed from the Incheon International Airport was flying to Brisbane, Australia. Han Jeong-ho, a professor of the Medical School at Chungbuk National University who took the flight to attend a symposium, was asleep on the plane. But he awakened to urgent voices of passengers and flight attendants a few seats back. A man in his 50s fell down on the floor and a young passenger was performing CPR on him.

Dr. Han immediately laid the man on the floor and conducted a physical examination. As soon as he found the man뭩 heart was not beating, he started cardiac massage. Another doctor on the plane named Kim Hong-soo joined him to free the man뭩 airway. Kim is a professor of the Medical School at Soonchunhyang University. He also took the plane to attend a symposium. After about 10-minute CPR, the man뭩 heart started beating, but he was unconscious.

With supports from the flight attendants, the two doctors moved the man to a wider space in the front, and a few minutes later, he came to his senses.

Fortunately, his condition did not deteriorate until the plane arrives at the Brisbane airport. He was transported to a local hospital upon the arrival. Dr. Han made a posting about this on Facebook that says, (I) could save the patient thanks to the help of Dr. Kim and dedications of the passenger who did CPR and the flight attendants of the Korean Air.
