Tiger Woods loses charity skins in India
FEBRUARY 06, 2014 06:43
Tiger Woods was off to a poor start this season. He ranked 80th until Round 3 of the Professional Golfers` Association`s (PGA) Farmers Insurance Open, his worst performance in the championship`s history, receiving only 10,919 U.S. dollars in prize. Last year, he won just 10,372 euros in prize after finishing 41st in the European Tour`s Omega Dubai Desert Classic 2014.

Despite the poor performances in the two championships, Woods seems to have no problem in his coffers. Visiting India for two days for the first time on his way back home after the European Tour, he received 2 million dollars in invitation fee. In a charity exhibition round at the India Delhi Golf Club on Tuesday, local time, he played a round until 15 holes by partnering alternately with key Indian figures including Pawan Munjal, head of the Hero Motor Group, a maker of bikes and scooters that sponsored his visit. In the last three holes, Woods teamed up with Munjal in a skins game against a team of Indian golf stars Anirban Lahiri and Shiv Kapur but was defeated by the Indian team. Woods made 10 birdies and one bogey as 2,000 specially invited guests were viewing. He said he was worried about his tee shots because the golf course had the narrowest fairway among those where he ever played, expressing hope that the charity funds would be used to help promising young Indian golfers.
