Sony Korea announced Thursday that it would showcase its new smartphone Xperia Z1 and wearable device SmartWatch 2 in the Korean market.

The Xperia Z1 model to be launched exclusively for the two Korean service providers – KT and SK Telecom – is waterproof and equipped with a high performance 20.7 million-pixel camera. Now, the device can be washed with water and maintained hygienic. The SmartWatch 2 model is not just waterproof but also dustproof, so that it is less likely to break down due to sweat, moisture or dusts. In addition, it can be easily connected to smart devices via near field communications (NFC) technology.

Preorders for Xperia Z1 can be placed at the Sony online store (store.sony.co.kr) or at Sony’s Apgujeong branch (Gangnam-gu, Seoul) from Friday to next Monday. The preorders will be available at some online shopping malls from next Tuesday and at KT branch stores from next Wednesday. The smartphone comes in three colors – black, white and purple – and is priced at 749,000 won. SmartWatch 2, which is priced at 219,000 won, started to be launched at Sony Stores and authorized dealers from Thursday and comes in black only.
