Encountering innocence at Indonesian village through viewfinder

We had a time for emotional dialogue, in which we communicate through photos by overcoming the barriers of religion and language through the camera viewfinder, another perspective for us to see the world. At the "Photo Class" hosted by UNESCO’s Asia Pacific Center of Education for Mutual Understanding (APCEIU) on November 23, 25 students from Korea and Indonesia, plus photographers and photojournalists from the two countries gathered together. Holding cameras in hands, they visited Lumpin Village, a small Indonesian village with mysterious surroundings where the past and the present co-exist.

Truly innocent and simple-minded children were seen playing under mild morning sunshine amid extensively spreading meadow. It was a time that was awash with the term “pure innocence.” The pastoral scene of a child who plays the recorder, riding on the back of cow, looked quite similar to images of Korea back in the old days. Briefly absent-minded at the scenery of vastly open fields, we put down our cameras for a while. People of modern world are tirelessly looking forward without taking time to reflect upon ourselves. Beautiful scenery from a small Indonesian village sweetly and gently touches our heartless heart.
