The U.S. Department of Defense on Thursday named five possible locations for a new missile defense site on the East Coast, according to a U.S. congressional newspaper.

The Hill, the congressional newspaper, reported Thursday that the potential sites are Fort Drum, New York; the Camp Ethan Allen Training Site, Vermont; SERE Training Area at Naval Air Station Portsmouth, Maine; Camp Ravenna Joint Training Center, Ohio; and Fort Custer Training Center, Michigan.

In last year`s National Defense Authorization Act, Congress instructed the U.S. administration to report whether it would be necessary to build a third missile defense base on the East Coast should North Korea and Iran develop road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles and, if so, where the site should be.
