`2013 Seoul Open Night` to be held this week

Seoul is opening a festival for those who want to enjoy the last days of summer. The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Sunday it would hold the “2013 Seoul Open Night” for two days this Friday and Saturday at Seoul Plaza, Cheonggye Plaza and Yongsan and Seongbuk districts. Now in its sixth year, the event is a key summer festival in Seoul where people join and enjoy various cultural events.

The event contains three themes. "Seoul Music Festival" will be held at Seoul`s key cultural spaces under the theme music; "Open House Seoul" will prepare various architecture and facilities with storytelling; cultural project "Sangsang +" will help people experience cultural and arts imaginations of Seoul and create new culture.

This year`s Seoul Music Festival will place various concerts including Talk Concert for Memories of 1980s, Orchestra with Explanations, Seoul Citizen Joint Chorus Festival, Open Stage, Citizen Concert and Rock in Seoul.

At Open House Seoul, some 200 facilities will be open to the public including the Seoul mayor`s official residence, foreign diplomats` offices in Korea, large companies, museums and galleries. Historians and culture commentaries will accompany citizens to explain about the places. A night tour along Naksan Seonggwak and a history experience program for children will be also open. More than 90 culture facilities including Bukchon, Daehakro, museums and galleries at Gwanghwamun will be open until 10 p.m.

"Sangsang +," a unique cultural and imaginative project, will offer an experience to appreciate city culture against the backdrop of skyscrapers. In Seoul Plaza, a tent village will be made, setting up 200 tents there, where people can enjoy various performances and movies. The Bread Pilgrimage, Environment-friendly Marketplace and Children`s Experience Marketplace will also be prepared.
