Police have caught seven men, including narcotics dealers, for alleged date rape after the suspects are known to have had sex with housewives whom they met at night clubs after secretly putting methamphetamine in the women`s drinks.

Nowon Police Station in northern Seoul said Tuesday that it caught one suspect, 60, on the charge of selling philopon and for habitually using the drug in violation of the law on drugs and narcotics management.

According to police, the suspect is known to have secretly added methamphetamine in a housewife`s glass at a night club in Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo district and having sex with her afterwards at a nearby hotel in late April.

The man reportedly put the drug in a beverage consumed by the woman again at the hotel, saying, “This drug will get you high.”

One of the housewives who fell victim to him suffered difficulty in breathing and was taken to the emergency room.

Police also arrested the head of a music album production company, 48, who allegedly bought narcotics from the man, and a singer, 45, who sold philopon and used it together with aspiring singers. Two others were booked without arrest.

The singer, who was the frontman of a reggae music band formed in the 1990s, has been indicted for narcotics abuse eight times. Police said he got philopon from the 60-year-old suspect, whom met at a prison.
