Quake in Taiwan

A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit southern Taiwan Thursday, causing at least three landslides, tearing down buildings, and halting rail and high-speed rail service and subway operations in certain areas. In the photo, firefighters try to extinguish a fire that broke out at a textile plant. Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau said the earthquake was not directly related to the one that hit Chile last week.
