The 62nd United Nations General Assembly, the first meeting after Secretary General Ban Ki-moon (left) was appointed to his post, opened on September 18 at UN headquarters in New York. Ban is presiding over the meeting along with President of the General Assembly Srgjan Kerim, who was the former foreign minister of the Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Under-Secretary General of the General Assembly Muhammad Shaaban. The 62nd meeting will cover 162 agenda items, including climate change, regional conflicts and ways to address conflicts among different religions and cultures.
