ABC, one of the three major U.S. broadcasters, is planning on producing a two-hour-long documentary film about the success story of the Korean singer Rain (real name: Jeong Ji-hun).

Rain, who is currently in New York to participate in the celebration party for Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People,” said in a press conference on Monday, “When I visited ABC, executive producer Rudy Bednar proposed to make a documentary film about myself.”

According to Rain, Bednar said, “Rain’s story of advancing into the overseas entertainment market is a fabulous topic for a documentary film,” and that “as Americans’ interest in Asia is increasing,” he wants to produce a film about Rain, “the representative figure of the Asian entertainment market.”

Rain intends to cooperate with the project so the documentary film will soon be aired all over the U.S.

The impact of being selected as one of Time’s “100 people” seems to be bigger than expected. “I already received over 10 offers here in the U.S. for being selected as one of the ‘100 people’,” said Rain at the press conference.

Rain is going on an Asian tour concert for five months starting from November this year, and after that he will begin to prepare advancing into the American market earnestly by producing albums in English.

At the party and award ceremony held at the Jazz at Lincoln Center, Rain was accompanied by his father Jeong Ki-chun.

Golfer Michelle Wie was also selected as one of the “100 Most Influential People” but did not appear at the celebration.
