Entry into GMS Telephone Market of Hong Kong

LG Electronics has pushed into GSM mobile phone market of Hong Kong after Europe and China, and has strengthened a capture of an international GSM market

LG Electronics announced on December 12, that it developed two models of 2.5G (GPRS) system dual folder terminal (model name: G5220) and the antenna-installed terminal (model name: W3000·Picture) for the market of Hong Kong and then has sold them at the market.

LG Electronics is scheduled to sell GSM System Terminal as LG brand in the market of Hong Kong. Also, LG Electronics has expected that it will be a good chance to improve the own brand image with the existing digital appliances such as a monitor and TV. In particular, LG Electronics has strategies to have a face-off in a section of a product quality and design in the market of Hong Kong, because major terminal companies including Nokia, Motorola, Sony and Ericsson have already participated.

LG Electronics said, “We will capture a local market of Hong Kong actively by the marketing differentiation strategy through the high priced color terminal and various products of an advanced design.”

As of December, the population of the mobile phone of Hong Kong is 400,000 people which are 60% of total population. 7 mobile communication enterprises have provided the GSM system service.
