Jeonju International Film Festival opens

The second Jeonju International Film Festival, which accents alternative and digital movies, opened Friday at the Cultural Hall of Chonbuk National University in Jeonju City, North Cholla Province.

Emceed by actors Kim Tae-Woo and Cho Yong-Won, the opening ceremony featured a performance with freedom as its theme and the showing of ``Waikiki Brothers`` directed by Im Sun-Rye.

Some 1,800 people from various walks of life attended the opening ceremony. They included culture-tourism minister Kim Han-Gil, North Cholla Province governor You Jong-Keun, director Im Kwon-Taek and actors Myung Kye-nam and Chang Mi-Hee.

The festival will continue until May 3 and about 210 films from 26 countries will be shown.
