“Superstar K” season 7, Cable TV channel Mnet’s audition program and Korean version of American Idol, will start at 11 p.m. on Thursday. Seasons 1 to 6 had been aired on Fridays, but season 7 can be watched on Thursdays. “The day was adjusted to simultaneously broadcast at both Mnet and tvN channels,” Mnet director Kim Ki-woong said at the production presentation held Tuesday at CJ Mnet center in northern Seoul. “With the five-day workweek having settled in, we judged that people will enjoy entertainment programs at Thursday nights.”

Singer Lee Seung-cheol who had gained popularity for straight forward and sometimes biting remarks while judging the participants since the program`s first episode is leaving the position. Instead singer Sung Si-kyung is newly joining, along with existing judges of singers Yoon Jong-shin, Baek Ji-young and Kim Bum-soo. Baek said, “Though we miss Lee, I’m certain that Sung will fill his vacancy with biting remarks.”

The first audition will be supported by portal sites and messaging app KakaoTalk, whereas previous seasons had been supported by phone’s automated response systems. One of the preliminaries will be only for teens, a new concept different from previous seasons.
