Korean female golfers won a total of 15 wins combined in the LPGA last year. Among the female athletes who showed off a world-class competence, Choi Woon-jung was the only person who signed a main sponsor contract with a local sports equipment supplier. Having signed the first sponsorship with a Korean golf ball maker Volvik in 2012, Choi recently extended her contract with the company by two years. She said, "Volvik is like my family. There were offers from other companies, but I didn’t even consider working with other sponsors."

While there are many world-class golfers in Korea, it is hard to find any global brand for golf equipment supplier that is "made in Korea." Choi Woon-jung, affectionately dubbed the "Orange Girl" for sticking to Volvik’s signature orange golf balls, voluntarily served as an honorary ambassador for her sponsor’s PR. The relationship between the female golfer and Volvik is considered an ideal example of sponsorship.

Known for her loyalty, Choi also goes by the "marathoner" on the golf field for her indefatigable energy. On Thursday, the main website of LPGA tour posted an article on the record-high number of competitions Choi has entered recently. She participated in all 31 LPGA competitions in 2015, and even in 2014, she missed only one competition out of 32. All in all, she entered as many as 63 contests in the LPGA tours over the past two years, which is the best record so far. The LPGA says, "If there is an award for perfect attendance, it must go to Choi Woon-jung." As it happened, the very first competition she won last year in her 157th attempt was the Marathon Classic.

Preparing for the new season in Jacksonville, Florida, Choi said that she has been undergoing a systematic training to accomplish her goal of winning the third competition this year, by both building stamina and improving her swing. Her father is expected to continue to support her as caddie this season. Choi is scheduled to enter the Bahamas LPGA Classic late this month, the first competition this season. The Bahamas Classic will mark her 33rd consecutive LPGA participation.
