Kim Kyeong-tae (aged 29, photo) who is at the first place of wining prize money in Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) is getting a frequent question from his Japanese fans which is whether he is close to Lee Bo-mee. Having grabbed the largest amount of prize money from Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA), Lee Bo-mee (aged 27) has recently emerged as a best star. Kim was born in Sokcho, Gangwon Province and had golf training with Lee who is from Inje and his junior by two years during their school days. The two won the prize in the area of golf at Dong-A Sports Award hosted by the Dong-A Ilbo in 2010.

Recording 16-under-par 272 at Daio Paper Elleair Ladies Open at Itsuurateien Country Club (Par 72) on Sunday, Lee Bo-mee grabbed her 7th trophy in the season. With the prize money of 18 million Japanese Yen (approx. 170 million Korean won), she marked a milestone of winning the largest prize money of 225,817,057 yen from a single-season out of the entire male and female tours. The previous JGTO record was set by Toshimitsu Izawa (Japan) at 217,934,583 yen in 2001. “Bo-mee’s performance is talk of the day in Japan every day. She is contributing in promoting images of Korean players,” Kim said on the news of Lee’s victory.

“It has come to the point where the success of a game depends on whether Lee with excellent talent and good manner and Kim attends the game or not. The two are by far the best out of any other foreign golfers who have played in Japanese tour,” reported the Kyodo News.
