Kim Tae-ho (20) woke up early in the morning ahead of the final round of the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship on Sunday. Having finished the third round by tying for fourth on Saturday, he had high expectations for an upset win as he found himself in good physical condition. He revealed ambition, saying, “My physical condition is as good as it can be today.”

After narrowing his difference against top contender Jin Cheng of China on Saturday, Kim said, “I will become ambitious to aim for a larger stage.” The winner of AAC can participate in next year’s Masters Golf Championship.

Kim’s aspiration for the Masters, however, went up in smoke due to bad weather. Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club (par 70), the venue of the AAC, had gusty wind of 20 meters per second due to Typhoon "Mujigae" on the day. Through the third round in line with rules, the AAC organizing committee cancelled the event, and confirmed the rankings based on players’ performances.

“I almost burst into tears after hearing the final round had been cancelled. Jin Cheong is lucky,” Kim Tae-ho said. “Maintaining good momentum, I will display good performance at the National Sports Festival, which kicks off on October 16." Though Kim failed to win the title, he has regained self-confidence.
