Son Yeon-jae (21) acquired the silver medal at the finals of the hoop competition at the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup at the Municipal Sports Complex Casal Vistoso in Lisbon, Portugal on Monday (Korea time). The gold medal went to Margarita Mamun of Russia. Son has continued to win a medal at 12 consecutive World Cup events since the 2013 season.

The latest event is Son’s first World Cup event of this season. Son started preparation belatedly due to treatment of her injuries, but has enhanced the completeness of her programs by skipping the Moscow Grand Prix in February. “I worried a lot because I started preparations belatedly. But I have regained confidence and saw glimmers of hope as I won a medal in competition with Russian players," Son said. “If I can enhance my physical stamina, I will be able to further improve my performance.” Son will participate at the World Cup to be held in Bucharest, Romania from April 3.
