‘Kang Min-ho Ballpark’ will be constructed in Yangsan City, South Gyeongsang Province. Kang Min-ho, 30, of the Lotte Giants, who garnered the "jackpot of 7.5 billion won (6.8 million U.S. dollars) in the 2013 pro baseball free-agent market, has launched a campaign to support promising young baseball players.

“A signing ceremony to construct Kang Min-ho Ballpark will take place at Yangsan City Hall on Wednesday,” said Heo Gu-yeon, chairman of the baseball development executive committee under the Korea Baseball Organization. “The entire project costs about 1 billion won (910,000 dollars), and Kang Min-ho agreed to take up 200 million won (192,000 dollars) of the expense.”

The ballpark, whose ground length in the central section will amount to 125 meters, will be used by Mulgeum High School’s baseball team and amateur baseball players.

“When we met and asked Kang Min-ho to make a ‘big donation,’ rather just providing gears, at last year’s spring training camp, he gladly accepted,” Heo said on Tuesday. “We hope that this will serve as a watershed that could change donation culture in the baseball community.”
