Korean national football team coach Uli Stielike named his first players for the national football team. At the Korea Football Association building in central Seoul on Monday, he announced the list of players to participate in the friendly match with Paraguay team (8 p.m. on October 10 at Cheonan General Stadium) and Costa Rica team (8 p.m. on October 14 at Seoul World Cup Stadium).

Veteran Lee Dong-guk (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motor) and Cha Du-ri (FC Seoul) gained trust once again, while Park Joo-ho (Mainz) and Kim Seung-kyu (Ulsan Hyundai), both of whom are currently playing for the Incheon Asian Games, were also picked. Striker Kim Seung-dae (Pohang Steelers) grabbed his first chance to play for the national football team. Kim Shin-wook (Ulsan Hyundai) who was injured while in the Asian Games was excluded for the sake of his protection. Park Chu-young who doesn`t have a team yet was also excluded.

Others listed were Kim Min-woo (Sagan) and Kim Jin-hyeon (Cerezo Osaka), both playing in Japanese teams, players in European teams including Son Heung-min (Leverkusen), Ki Sung-yueng (Swansea City) and Lee Chung-yong (Bolton), and those playing in Europe including Nam Tae-hee (Lekhwiya), Han Kook-young (Qatar SC), Kwak Tae-hwi (Al-Hilal FC) and Lee Myeong-joo (Al Ain), as well as Kim Young-kwon (Guangzhou Evergrande) and Park Jong-woo (Guangzhou R&F), both playing in China.
