Former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda said, “The saddest day of the year is the day when baseball season is over.”

Game 7 of the Korean Series between the Kia Tigers and the defending champions SK Wyverns at Jamsil Stadium Saturday had so much drama and excitement, fans were apparently sad to have to wait until next season to watch baseball.

Second-year player Na Ji-wan hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Kia Tigers a dramatic 6-5 win for their first title in 12 years and 10th title overall.

Since Kia Motors took over the Tigers from Haitai Confectionary in 2001, the team has won all 10 Korean Series it has played in.

In the bottom of the sixth, Na, who has been named Korean Series Most Valuable Player, hit a two-run homer against SK pitcher Ken Kadokura with the Tigers losing 5-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, he etched a place in Korean baseball history with his game-winning blast against SK reliever Chae Byung-yong with the count 2-2. All 29,000 spectators stood up when Na hit the ball.
