Marathoner Lee Bong-ju, 39, hugs his mother Gong Ok-hee, 74, after crossing the finish line first in his last race at the National Athletic Meet in Daejeon yesterday. Clad in a pink hanbok, Gong watched her son’s last race from early in the morning. In his 41st career marathon, Lee won with a time of 2:15:25, or 2:07 minutes faster than runner-up Yoo Yeong-jin, 30.
