Figure skating star Kim Yu-na yesterday wore her skates for the first time in two weeks after pain in her hip joint had sidelined her.

Her management company IB Sports said, “Kim Yu-na resumed training late Monday afternoon on the ice rink wearing skates. Since she had no pain, she trained briefly for an hour in the morning.”

She practiced only steps and spins as she opted not to risk further injury by jumping. Sources said Kim felt no pain over two days of training.

IB Sports said, “The results of her medical examination to be released Thursday are important. If she recovers by the end of this month, she will fly to Canada to finish her training there. But if she can’t, her coach Brian Orser will come to Korea to help her prepare for the World Championships scheduled for next month in Sweden.”

In other news, rising star Kim Na-young saw her world rank rise to 36th thanks to her performance in the Four Continents Championships in Korea. She had been ranked 64th.
