U.S. Special Forces are arriving in Syria soon to join the international war against the Islamic State. U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs Brett McGurk said on Sunday that the mission is aimed to “suffocate and strangle them in the core.” This marks the first time that the U.S. military, which had focused on air raid since the U.S.-led allied powers were formed, has officially sent forth soldiers to Syria.

The dozens of U.S. special forces will take on the mission of providing support and coordination for the service men in the battlefield including the Kurdish militia YPG and the Christian forces in Syria who are engaging in battles with the IS terrorists in the northern part of Syria.

Through his speech at the East Asia Summit, which was held on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, U.S. President Barack Obama strongly condemned the Islamic State, calling them "killers with good social media" and reaffirming his will to hunt down its leaders and cut off the group’s financing to ultimately "destroy" the terrorist group. The tone is considered the strongest for any remarks the U.S. president has made so far.

On Monday, the French military rerouted its air craft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea off the Syrian coastline to expand the scale of aerial strike against ISIS.
