Attention is focusing on how to use vacation by U.S. President Barack Obama, who is enjoying a 16-day vacation from August 8. While visiting various resorts rather than staying at the White House during summer and winter vacations, the U.S. leader fully enjoys vacation, but has displayed know-how on how to manage major issues in state administration in diverse ways.

During this summer vacation, Obama is spending time playing golf at Martha`s Vineyard, a resort in Massachusetts. Martha`s Vineyard is the place he visited during last year’s vacation as well. His rounding partners are mostly presidential aides and his high school friends, but he played golf with Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank on Monday. At times other than golf rounding, he is visiting nearby restaurants in the resort area and enjoying light parties with his family.

Even on vacation, Obama has constantly issued messages on major affairs in state administration through the White House, and has properly released prearranged interviews in a timely fashion. In an interview with National Public Radio on Sunday, the day after the start of his vacation, Obama said that during his remaining term in office, he would try hard to resolve many issues including racial conflict, in disclosing his commitment to administration of state affairs in the second half. In an interview with CNN on the same day, he stressed the inevitability of nuclear talks with Iran. Both interviews were prepared on Wednesday last week, before the start of his vacation. Obama took the measure to ready himself for his absence in anticipation of mounting offensives by Republicans during a long-term vacation.

In an interview with Mic co-founder and editor-in-chief Jake Horowitz on Tuesday, Obama stressed the need for nuclear talks with Iran, while answering video questions by Iran and Israel. He said that if Iran behaves in accordance with nuclear agreement and does to cause anxiety among neighing countries, other countries would come to welcome this nuclear agreement as well. This interview was also pre-recorded on Thursday, prior to his departure for summer vacation.

In an email interview with The Dong-A Ilbo on Monday, an official at the White House’ public information office said that President Obama is on vacation, but the White House is under normal operation, adding that key aides including National Security Advisor Susan Rice are on duty, and the president’s weekly radio address delivered on Sundays would be conducted during his vacation as well.
