Protests against the new French employment law, the "Contrat Premiere Embauche,” or CPE (first employment contract), which allows employers to fire workers under 26-years-of-age within their first two years on the job, have continued for over two weeks across France. On March 23, about 23,000 protesters marched on the streets of Paris. Some of the demonstrators confronted riot police by destroying parked cars and throwing stones. Even high school students have joined in the campaign. A nationwide general strike is scheduled on March 28.
