President Park Geun-hye will have five-day summer vacation from Monday. Park will reportedly take care of state affairs while resting at her residence at the presidential office without attending any special events.

After announcing Park’s vacation schedule, presidential spokesman Min Kyung-wook said, “It is understood that the president will not visit any place.” Having a "low-key vacation," she will likely review her plans on pending state affairs including four major reforms and a special pardon commemorating the Liberation Day. At the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the president said, “After the vacation season, the government should step up efforts in operation of state administration, and each ministry and agency should proactively implement administration of accountability to ensure that this can be felt in people’s life.”

The presidential office had suggested various ideas on President Park’s vacation schedule, but she reportedly chose to take her vacation at her residence, in consideration of security and other issues. During last year’s vacation season, she also stayed at her residence due to after-effects of the Sewol disaster. In 2013, the first year after her inauguration, she visited Jeo-do island in Geoje Island, where she has memories with her family, and stayed there for two days.
