With heightening military and diplomatic tensions in Northeast Asia due to the North Korean nuclear tests, American forces in the area have stepped up security measures. An F-16 fighter plane (left) is taking off at an American air force base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province on October 10. On October 9, the Aegis destroyer of the USS Kitty Hawk and a submarine of the Japanese self-defense army are anchored at Japan’s Yokosuka Harbor, homeport of the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet.
