A joint organization will soon be launched to tackle environmental issues in Seoul and Beijing. Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon met Beijing Mayor Wang Anshun on Wednesday in the Chinese capital to sign the MOU for the creation of the environment team.

The Seoul Climate and Environment Headquarters and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Environment Protection will exchange environment protection policies, technologies, information, and human resources. This environment team will join the other three teams (on economy, culture, and education), which have been established by the joint committee.

After signing the MOU, the two cities hosted the "Seoul-Beijing Forum on Air Quality Improvement" and discussed how to enhance the air quality in both cities. Aside from the main conference, the organizers held an "Environmental Industry Business Meeting" where 10 Korean companies joined whose business items are related to soil restoration, waste treatment, and air quality improvement.

"Based on public research and private technology, the two cities will cooperate to develop a technology to reduce air pollution," said Mayor Park in his congratulatory speech at the forum. "I expect the two cities will create a synergy effect and make an excellent technology."
