It turned out that Kim Il-gon, 48, the murder suspect who hid the body of the victim in the trunk of an SUV, had planned the kidnapping three months before.

Seongdong Police Station in Seoul announced the investigation result on Sep. 25 and said, “Kim kidnapped the victim to use her as a bait to kill a woman surnamed K, who had a quarrel with him.” According to the police investigation, Kim, while riding a motorcycle, almost bumped into a car driven by K in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, in May. The vehicle driver K and Kim had a scuffle over the accident. Due to this, Kim was fined to 500,000 won as an assaulter and K was acquitted.

Holding grudges, Kim visited a karaoke owned by K and had quarrels several times since early June. Kim planned to kill K as arevenge and made a list of 28 people to kill for revenge, who he believed had done harm to him, including K.

Kim decided to kidnap a woman who would pretend as a karaoke helper and lure the karaoke owner K. He tried to abduct a woman at a mall in Goyang city in Gyeonggi province on Aug. 24, but ended up with failure. Kim kidnapped a woman, 35 years old, at a mall in Asan in South Chungcheon province on Sep. 9. Kim strangled the woman to death when the woman tried to run away. Kim mutilated the victim’s body at a part in Samcheok city in Gangwon province on Sep. 10 and set the car that carried the victim’s body on fire in Seoul on Sep. 11.

The prosecutor’s office sent Kim to the prosecution on charges of homicide, robbery, mutilation of corpse, arson of a vehicle, failed attempt for special robbery and preparation of murder.
