S hospital where the late rock-star Shin Hae-chul received surgery for adhesion of intestines, which is regarded as the cause of death, files for court receivership. S hospital director Kang (44) said on Thursday, “The hospital has been in financial difficulties after the death of Shin. I plan to file for court receivership to the Seoul Central District Court on Friday.” To handle the filing, Kang appointed a bankruptcy attorney besides the medical lawyer who handles lawsuit regarding Shin’s death.

Dr. Kang is a specialist in gastric bypass surgery for obesity treatment. By tying off upper part of stomach that links to gullet with a silicone band, the gastric bypass surgery decreases the size of stomach. He has become widely known since he starred in TV programs after performing surgeries to many celebrities.

Financial status of the S hospital that has around 100 beds started worsening as the number of patients dropped after Shin’s death. Kang argued, “Currently the total debt amounts to 9 billion won. Out of 25 doctors, only 7 left. Provisional seizure is being executed for properties of the hospital.” Kang added, “I successfully raised investment of 50 billion won this September and had a plan to relocate the hospital in Munjeong region of Songpa District, Seoul. But the plan fell through due to financial challenges.” S hospital will continue medical services after filing for the court receivership.
