People living in what is called "the tallest slum in the world" in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas have been evicted. The Venezuelan government on Tuesday began moving thousands of squatters in a half-built 45-story skyscraper, according to the British newspaper Daily Mail.

Named the "Tower of David," the building was originally intended to be Venezuela`s landmark financial center. Its framework and outer walls were completed before the construction was halted during the country`s financial crisis in the 1990s. Many needy people settled in the abandoned building, creating their own communities in the mid-2000s. An episode of the U.S. television drama "Homeland," was set in the building as a place of violence and crimes.
