Samsung Electronics has applied diverse eco-friendly technology to the "Galaxy S5," its new high-end smartphone. According to the electronics giant on Monday, the company has produced all of the package box and user manual for the Galaxy S5 with recycled paper. The charger for the smartphone is a high-efficiency, low power load product as well. The vinyl bag for its battery pack and the case for its charger are also made of naturally decomposing vinyl packaging material and recycled plastic.

Samsung has been applying diverse eco-friendly technologies to its flagship products starting with the Galaxy S3, with their packages and manuals made of recycled paper. As a result, the Galaxy series received eco-friendly certification in six countries, including Korea, the U.S., China and the U.K. The series has also acquired a total of 213 cases of environment-related certification from these countries since 2011.

A company source said, “We will continue to apply eco-friendly technology to major products including the Galaxy series going forward, and thus further emphasize the image as premium products.”
