Ruling party in pain over nomination rules

Hwang Woo-yea (center), chairman of the ruling Saenuri Party, reads a document submitted by the party`s candidate nomination committee for the upcoming local elections during the party`s supreme council meeting Thursday. The committee decided early in the day that it will determine its candidate for Jeju provincial governor solely in accordance with opinion polls. Lawmaker Lee Hye-hoon, on Hwang`s right, resigned from the supreme council, due to her bid for Seoul mayor.
