“I confidently recommend Korea as one of the most promising investment destinations.”

President Park Geun-hye invited the heads of foreign companies in Korea on Thursday and pitched Korea. It is the second time that the president met foreign investors following a meeting in April last year.

“Korea has many global companies that can be best partners in the value-added manufacturing industry such as information technology, automobiles, and offshore plants,” President Park said. “Korea signed free trade agreements with the U.S., the EU, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and if we sign a free trade agreement with China, Korea will be one of the closest and most stable stronghold to the global market.”

“People say that GM will cut production and leave Korea, but this is just a rumor,” GM Korea CEO Sergio Rocha said in the meeting. “We are here to stay.” Then, President Park said in English, “The government is here to support you.”

President Park will make a state visit to India and Switzerland from Jan. 15 through Jan. 22 and attend the World Economic Forum 2014 in Davos for her “sales diplomacy”
