'Samsung selects Newberry as new plant in U.S.,' says WSJ

The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday (local time) that Samsung Electronics chose Newberry, South Carolina as the final candidate for establishing its new home appliances plant, and is finalizing the deals. Newberry is 241 kilometers northwest from the port city Charleston. Until now, the Korean electronic giant has rounded up South Carolina and Alabama as the two final candidates.

According to WSJ, Samsung will be investing 300 million dollars in the power generator assembling site, which was originally used by the heavy-equipment supplier "Caterpillar" to produce ovens and other appliances currently manufactured in Mexico. Once Samsung and the state government close the deal, an investment plan is likely to be announced next week, when President Moon Jae-in and the economic mission visit the U.S.
