Tenor Kim Keon-woo (30) acquired the grand prix at the "Operalia 2016," an international opera concourse founded in 1993 by world-renowned tenor Placido Domingo (75).

At the final round of the concourse in which 12 performers competed at the Degollado Theater in Guadalajara, Mexico on Sunday, Kim acquired the top prize in the male vocalist category, as well as the audience prize. Kim, who is studying at the supreme performers’ program or ‘Konzertexamen’ at the Mainz University school of music in Germany after graduating from Kyung Hee University college of music, acquired the runner-up prize at the Seoul International Music Concourse, and the first prize at the Montreal Concourse in Canada, as he has displayed stellar performance at Korean and overseas music competitions.

Meanwhile, Domingo will hold a concert, which will be effectively his last in Korea, at the Olympic Gymnastic Arena in Seoul on October 2.
